Comfortable rooms with a boutique feel made for a pleasant visit, and the staff's friendliness truly stood out. Enjoying wood-fired pizzas and a fresh, cooked-to-order Scottish breakfast added to the experience. the lack of flexible room arrangements was a slight drawback, and there could have been more variety in the menu for longer stays. some amenities were basic and could use an update.

the staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made my stay really nice. food was delish, especially the evening meal that was nicely presented. my room was clean and had a decent shower. Huge fluffy towels. it's in a great spot, easy to find in the center. loved that it was full of locals, felt really cozy!
the room was a bit small for my taste, and the parking situation was tricky with no dedicated car park. also, the wifi was pretty weak, barely connected.

Had a cracking time at The Birchtree, especially with the lovely outdoor beer garden and the delicious salt and chilli chicken that hit all the right notes! the cozy bar area felt warm and welcoming, perfect for chilling after a day of exploring.
A bit quirky having the shower and sink right in the room, and there was some traffic noise in the morning. The fan in the WC was a bit of a puzzle, too—couldn’t turn it off!

The large junior suite provided ample space, making our romantic getaway enjoyable. The fantastic bath in the room added a touch of luxury.
Some painted walls in the corridors showed noticeable wear.

great access to parks and delicious food nearby
During my stay, I found the town center to be vibrant and filled with great dining options, like the Galloway Soup Company just a minute away, and Colliston Park, which was only a short walk of a few steps—perfect for my city strolls and enjoying the outdoors. the atmosphere at breakfast was enjoyable with a nice variety to choose from, ensuring I was fueled for my explorations. As a solo traveler, I appreciated the comfortable room that was clean and well-equipped, making my stay even more pleasant, but parking can be a bit tricky to find at first, so have a look at the street options nearby.

Perfect for a cozy getaway
I stayed here for a night and the food was just exceptional, like an art on a plate. The staff were absolutely friendly, the bar man really went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed, even gave us some great cocktail tips!
It wasn't exactly cheap, but still acceptable for the experience.
